2007 Embargo Games - Electronic vs Print media? Naaa…

Yep, you guessed it; we’ve got another crisis on our hands with this one. Those of you, who (rightfully) don’t give a rat’s ass about the war between print and electronic media, just scroll down to the next post and read about the 2008 Dodge Viper.

Continuing the “you break it, I break it” embargo game that began with Car & Driver’s 2007 February issue, John Neff at Autoblog.com discovered that the 2007 February issue of Road & Track had broken another embargo, that of the 2008 Viper -13 days before it officially ended. The guys over at Jalopnik then took the liberty of freeing the snake, revealing pics and the official press release.

Well, if you ask me, the days that car magazines hosted exclusive news features on their covers are long dead. I don’t know why the heck they’re even trying to break embargoes –officially, or unofficially. In today’s electronic media world, info travels so fast around the globe that it’s a matter of seconds before “yours” becomes “ours”. Since everybody knows that, I’m guessing that the next media war will be played between professional or amateur blogs, car related and official car-magazine sites. Maybe even sooner than you or I think.

But then again, aren’t we talking about the same exact people, with the only difference being which media (print or electronic) they’re representing at the time? Feel free to leave a comment below, I’d really like to hear what you have to say about it.
