Brisk RS 01 WRC: Prodrive Developed Skoda Fabia Coupe With A 500Hp 2.0TFSI Engine

Apparently this isn’t a typical road-going Skoda; it’s a unique rally car created by Czech spark-plug manufacture Brisk in collaboration with Prodrive. Albeit Brisk’s spec-sheet is available only in Czech, it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to make ends meet. Based on a first generation Fabia, the RS 01 WRC gets a coupe body that actually doesn’t look half-bad and a supped-up 2.0TFSI engine -yes, the same as in the VW Golf GTI and Audi S3 models among others, producing 500Hp @ 7.800 rpm and 600Nm @ 3.700 rpm. Combine that with a weight of just 1.000kg or 2.200 pounds and the 2.7 sec time for the 0 to 100km/h (62mph) that Brisk announces makes (some) sense.

According to the Czech spark-plug manufacture, the RS 01 WRC is ready to be tested in rallies both nationally and abroad. "Revitalization in Action" or RIA for short is a group formed by bunch of guys at the GMInsiderNews (GMI) site who like to dream up entirely new product portfolios for various GM brands. This time the group that consist of GMI Staff Member ChevroletRevived, the Director/Writer of RIA, GMI Photoshop Artist fbodyrules who designs the vehicles, and GMI Administrator/Interior Photoshop Artist NSAP got their hands on Saturn. 2008 Volvo C30 & C70: Stronger 230Hp 2.5T & Minor Revisions

Following the revised S40/V50 and the 2008 S80 models Volvo has also announced minor changes for its C30 hatch & C70 Coupe-Convertible for the 2008 year range. Starting off with the common changes, both models receive the updated 2.5Turbo first featured in the 2008 S40/V50 that gains an extra 10Hp delivering now 230Hp.

Separately now, the C30 will be offered with a 1.8 Flexifuel engine (capable of running on bioethanol E85) and a 180Hp D5 Euro V compliant engine with six-speed manual transmission. The C30 also benefits from new hazard lights that are automatically activated if any airbag is deployed and a new EBL (Emergency Brake Light) function flashes all three brake lights five times a second to warn following drivers during an emergency braking manoeuvre. Exterior-wise, three new colours are available and the Volvo iron mark badge has increased in size by 50 per cent on the front grille. The 2008 C70 features revised controls in the centre console complemented by a multi-function centre tunnel storage area, a more compact handbrake design, and a new armrest that’s longer and further forward for better driver comfort as well as offering a larger storage area. Other changes include more dynamically styled instrument panels for the T5 and D5 models and a new hard drive-based RTI road traffic information and satellite navigation system. As you’d expect, Volvo also offers four new exterior colours and a new matt real wood interior inlay, called Nordic Light Oak.

BMW To Produce Next-Gen X3 In the US

BMW’s US-built car range will be extended with the addition of the next-generation X3 SUV according to the company’s CEO, Norbert Reithofer who announced the news at BMW’s annual general meeting today (May 15, 2007) in Munich. The current X3 is built by Magna Steyer under contract.

The Bavarian car maker currently builds the Z4 and X5 in the USA, and apart from the X3, BMW will also manufacture the forthcoming X6 crossover at their Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. "We will expand the production capacity of our US plant in in the medium term from the current 140,000 to well over 200,000 vehicles per annum. This is one element of our future strategy. Taking this step will help to lower our US dollar currency risk" stated Norbert Reithofer.

The BRABUS module for the standard ABC suspension is specifically calibrated to these high-performance tires, and lowers the ride height of the two-door by some 25 millimeters. Maximum fade-free stopping power is provided on the front axle by 380 x 36 millimeter discs and 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers. The rear features 355 x 28 millimeter discs and six-piston aluminum fixed calipers.
