2009 BMW M5 & Μ6 Get New Mirrors & iDrive

For the 2009 model year, BMW is updating its V10-powered M5 Sedan / Touring and M6 Coupe / Cabriolet models with the introduction of the new generation iDrive that includes a redesigned controller with direct-dial buttons on the center console and a high-resolution 8.8 inch display. Furthermore, all four “M” models feature a new navigation system that allows a full-screen map display. BMW has also replaced the external mirrors on both the M5 and M6 models with new ones that feature an enlarged field of view. Finally, for the 2009 model year M5 and M6s, the Bavarian carmaker has added a new Carbon Black metallic color on the option list. –One more pic after the jump

Project Frankenstein: 1988 BMW M3 with 507Hp M5 V10 Engine!

Think about it; a nimble and compact 1988 BMW M3 equipped with the most powerful engine that bimmer has to offer today – the 507 Hp 5.0-liter V10 unit from the M5/M6 models. Too much power, to much weight up front, no more balance if you ask us, but admittedly an interesting project from Piper Motorsport’s behalf. The Franken M3 (that’s the project car’s name) is being developed as we speak.

Understandably, fitting a massive V10 under the hood of an E30 M3 is no easy task. According to the guys at Piper Motorsports, it will be done by using all new OEM BMW 3-Series E90 front/rear sub frames and suspension pieces. These parts will be assembled on a chassis jig to fit within the stock body of the 1988 M3. After finishing these modifications to the front sub frame and fire wall Piper will place the new OEM M5 V10 power plant. –Images after the jump

BMW M6 Convertible: Total... Burn Out

All we know about this BMW M6 Convertible is that it was burnt to the ground – but apparently you can see that for yourselves, and that according to the poster on the forum where we found the pictures, the baked bimmer was located somwehere in the Swedish city of Malmo. We also know that it's heartbreaking to see a car like the M6 in this condition. –More pics after the jump

Video: BMW M6 vs Lamborghini Gallardo

Can’t say that BMW M6 driver didn’t try, but fact is that he got totally pwned by his fellow “night driver” in the yellow Lamborghini Gallardo. Actually he got pwned twice as you can see in the second video right after the jump... -Continued

Video: BMW M6 vs Mercedes CLK 63 AMG Black Series

In this video the boyz at Edmund’s Insideline pit Mercedes’ brutal 507Hp 6.3-litre V8 powered CLK 63 AMG Black Series against BMW’s savvy-tech M6 Coupe which is fitted with the same 507Hp strong V10 engine that’s used in the M5. Theoretically, the CLK 63 AMG aims head straight at the forthcoming BMW M3 CSL, but with a hefty $136,000 price tag (vs $109,000 of the specific M6), the Benz hasn’t the comfort to choose with whom it competes with. However, judging from the video, the CLK 63 AMG Black Series gives the M6 more than it bargained for.

BMW M6 With... Porsche GT3 Rear Wing!

If you thought that the BMW 6-Series “Bungle-butt” was bad then what would you say about this M6 with a Porsche 911 GT3 style rear wing stuck on the trunk that was discovered by a member of "rs6forums"? Well, at least he’ll have somewhere to hang his clothes if anyone aesthetically insulted feels like practicing tomato throwing techniques on him… -More pics after the jump

Lumma Design BMW 6-Series CLR 600 S

Lumma Design has released a new visual sport package available for all BMW 6-series (including M6 and convertible versions). The “brawny” yet tasteless if you ask us (...), CLR 600 S bodykit includes a front spoiler, side sills with integrated air intake ducts, rear apron bumper with diffuser and a rear spoiler which can be replaced optionally with a rear wing. The CLR 600 S sits on 20 or 21-inch multispoke alloys. For the 20-inch version, LUMMA uses a combination of 245/35 tires up front and 275/30 in the rear. The larger alternative favours the front axle with tires 255/30 and 295/25 for the rear axle. -Continued after the jump

Lumma also pepped the motor area adding two air intake plenums, an air filter housing each made of carbon fibre make along with a red coloured valve cover. Inside the German tuning house has equipped the BMW 6-Series with tinted gauges and an optionally extended speedometer to 360km/, a sports steering wheel in wood/leather or carbon/leather combination, aluminium foot pedals and foot mats sporting stitched logo.

Finally, Lumma mounted a set of a H & R performance springs set that lowers the CLR 600 S by 30 mm. Later on the German tuner will offer a performance package for all 6-Series models.

Greeks allegedly take a BMW M6 up to 340 km/h in a public road

A group of daredevil Greeks take a night out at the Hellenic capitol and decide to put their BMW M6 to the limits. Obviously, they have taken off the electronic speed restrictor from the bimmer which goes up to 340 km/h (on the second part of the video) in the "Attiki Odos" highway that runs through Athens. via Autoblog.it
