Hyundai i10 Mini Gets new 1.2-liter Engine

Hyundai is refining its i10 mini car with the introduction of a new 1.2-liter petrol engine which will be available in the UK from this September. Compared to the 1.1-liter unit, the new all-alloy engine’s output has been improved by 18 percent to 77PS while torque rises from 98Nm to 118Nm. As a result the top speed rises from 94 (151 km/h) to 102mph (164 km/h) and the benchmark 0-62mph (100 km/h) sprint drops by nearly three seconds to 12.8 seconds. -Continued

Despite this the CO2 emissions and combined fuel consumption are identical to the smaller 1.1-litre engine at 119g/km and 56.5 mpg UK (47.0 mph US). According to the Korean automaker, the price of the 1.2-liter Style model rises by £150 compared with the 1.1-litre to £7,995, while the Comfort rises by £200 to £7,545.

Hyundai’s i10 Bologna Show Advert

Earlier today, we showed you the Abarth Horse-Powered Energy Drink (click here) that was available at Fiat’s stand in Bologna. We’re not sure whether Hyundai handed out any Italian sauces at their Bologna Motor Show stand, but we did like their journalist advert for the all-new i10 (click here for more info and pictures) which made its world premiere in Italy.

2008 Hyundai i10: Atos Successor Fully Revealed

A fortnight after an inside leak gave us our first look at the all-new i10, Hyundai released details of the next installment in its all-new range of ‘i’ cars – the i10 which will replace the current Atos model (called Amica in some markets) . Based on the same platform as the 2008 Kia Picanto, Hyundai’s new affordable mini car measures 3,565mm in length (140.3-in.) and 1,595mm in width (62.8-in.) while it features a wheelbase of 2,380mm (93.7-in.). -Continued after the jump

Design-wise, the i10 is as intriguing as a brick stone with headlamps and wheels. Same goes for the interior which looks cheaper than the one found in Kia’s 2008 Picanto. On the other hand, according to Hyundai, all i10s will be well equipped with even entry-level models featuring four airbags with a passenger side cut-off switch, air-condition, four opening windows with electric operation at the front, central locking, electric power steering, tinted glass, 14-inch wheels, body coloured bumpers and an integrated six-speaker CD/MP3 stereo on the standard equipment list.

Initially, the i10 models will be offered only with a 67 PS, 1.1-litre petrol engine mated to either a manual or an optional automatic gearbox. In both cases, the gearshift is mounted on the centre console in order to improve ergonomics and free up the space between the driver and the passenger seat.

The first i10s are set to arrive in European Hyundai dealerships in March 2008 with prices in tax-happy UK, staring below £6,500 ($13,400 or €9,300).

2008 Hyundai i10 (Atos) Image Leaked!

A new image featuring the next generation Atos without a single trace of camouflage has been leaked into the web today revealing the front end of Hyundai’s forthcoming mini car. From the looks of it, the picture must have been taken in one of Hyundai’s development centres. We don’t have any information concerning technical details but we have been told by Korean officials that the next generation Atos will be named “i10" after Hyundai’s new alpha-numerical code naming which was introduced in the new “i30” (click here). Like the Atos, the i10 will be produced in Hyundai’s Indian factory in Chennai. According to our sources, the Hyundai’s Fiat Panda adversary will go on sale in Europe during the first quarter of 2008.
